The film will be directed by Sundance alumnus Carlos Brooks, whose film, QUID PRO QUO, will be released into theaters this Friday through Magnolia Pictures. The project will be produced by Mark Amin and HARD CANDY producer David Higgins, who created the story and will produce under his Launchpad Productions banner. Sobini Films’ Cami Winikoff will also produce. Sobini Films has a first look deal with Lionsgate Entertainment. BURNING BRIGHT, written by Christine Coyle Johnson & Julie Prendiville Roux, is the story of a 20 year-old-girl and her autistic little brother who are trapped in a house with a ravenous tiger during a hurricane. Amin said “We were looking for a smart, character-driven, high concept thriller and when I read Burning Bright I knew we had a gem of a script. Briana is perfect for the role.” Higgins commented, “We couldn’t be more excited to have Briana in the film. She is a very talented young actress and her energy is a perfect match for this dynamic character.” Sobini’s newly established foreign sales division headed by Todd Olsson will be handling international licensing on the film and has already completed a number of pre-sales during the Cannes film market. Evigan is represented by the Gersh Agency, Luber Roklin Entertainment and Attorney Dave Feldman. She will appear next in the sequel to DONNIE DARKO, S. DARKO, which is currently in production. Carlos Brooks is represented by Jordan Bayer at Original Artists and managed by Marti Blumenthal of 59 Management. Bayer and Mark Stankevich of Stankevich/Gochman LLP handled his deal. |
